With Week 17 in the books, let’s take a look at who stood out for New Orleans.
The New Orleans Saints were outed by one of the worst teams in the league as they fell to the Las Vegas Raiders 25-10 on Sunday afternoon.
This week’s breakout player has made the most of his opportunity on special teams and is beginning to get more involved in the passing game. The breakout player from the Saints’ Week 17 loss to the Raiders is WR Dante Pettis.
The 29-year-old’s role has gradually increased since Rashid Shaheed’s season-ending knee injury. He’s taken full advantage of the return game, turning the clock back to his college days at the University of Washington. He signed with the Saints’ practice squad prior to Week 7’s matchup with the Denver Broncos and was promoted to the active roster ahead of Week 14’s victory over the New York Giants.
On Sunday against the Raiders, Pettis caught three of four targets for 27 yards (with a long of 19 and 8 yards after the catch), recorded one first-down conversion, and had a 21-yard punt return.
