Arizona Cardinals linebacker free agent Kyzir White is still available on the market and could sign soon this offseason before the NFL Draft. According to Bleacher Report, the source put together a list of “top” free agents that are available and White is one of those available ready to sign whenever he intrigues a team which he has yet to do. Originally selected in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the former West Virginia product didn’t have a perfect start in the league struggling to make an impact in the first three seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers. Even though White had a better final year with the Chargers, the team still let him walk in free agency joining the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal and having a better campaign helping them reach a Super Bowl registering four tackles.
It wasn’t enough for the Eagles due to the emergence of Nakobe Dean and Zach Baun. White continued to get better for the following two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, only allowing one touchdown in coverage and registering a career-high nine tackles. White may not be reliable in stopping the run defense but could be a worthy pickup in zone coverages. Despite that, he should attract several suitors and these two teams should bring out the best in him.
“Under the Radar” Free Agent Kyzir White Should Attract Suitors Soon – Chargers, Saints, Cowboys Logical Fits
Back to LA?
A reunion with the Los Angeles Chargers is possible and it could make sense for both sides. Joey Bosa got cut for several reasons since he hasn’t been able to make an impact or stay healthy. White had those issues at the beginning of his career so the team could give him a second chance now that Jim Harbaugh is the head coach of this roster. Khalil Mack may be returning but there’s no guarantee he’ll produce the same numbers with the landscape of this defense, especially losing Poona Ford too. White won’t make much of a difference in this unit but while they will probably draft a linebacker in this year’s draft, the team could use him in a temporary rotational role to give them some relief.
Last season, the Chargers had one of the best defenses but it will look dramatically different. Even though Harbaugh loves to win football games with a physical defense, they need a capable linebacker to stop the pass offense on the opposing side. White is more than capable of stopping the pass while they will have a different secondary look as well after failing to retain Kristian Fulton, Derwin James and Asante Samuel.
Other Suitors
The Dallas Cowboys linebacker depth chart looks to be in good shape after adding several new players to the roster. Jack Sanborn and Kenneth Murray Jr. are the upgrades they made since Demarvion Overshown suffered a season-ending injury to give him time to recover. Murray and Sanborn are good run-stoppers but the Cowboys need a linebacker to be a coverage guy and White could fill that role if they don’t anticipate bringing back Eric Kendricks.
Meanwhile, the Saints could use another linebacker in their unit as well. After losing Willie Gay, the team needs another man to assist Pete Werner and Demario Davis. White won’t change the entire unit but he’s solid depth to keep the Saints coverage game intact.
