With the 9th pick in the NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select…
With the NFL Draft just a few weeks away, it’s time again for SB Nation’s Mock Draft with all 32 team sites. As expected, players like Cam Ward, Travis Hunter, Abdul Carter, Will Campbell and Shedeur Saunders were already off the board when it was time for the New Orleans Saints to make their pick. As Editor-in-Chief of CSC, I had the opportunity to act as the Saints general manager and make their pick. So, without further ado…
With the 9th overall pick in the 2025 SB Nation mock draft, the Saints select WR Tetairoa McMilllan, WR Arizona.
At 6’4” and 215 lbs., McMillian is big, physical receiver who has the ability to become a much-needed weapon for the Saints on offense. Injuries plagued the wide receiver group last season, with the losses of Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Taysom Hill. But even when healthy, they still lack someone like “T-Mac” who excels as both an X and Slot receiver fluidly, which is something rare for a receiver of his size. His versatility will be helpful in the future in creating mismatches for defenses trying to cover him.
Through his 3 seasons at Arizona, McMillian became their all-time leader in receiving yards with 3,423. He recorded 213 total receptions with the Wildcats, finishing fourth in program history. In 2024, his 1,319 yards were the fifth-most during a single season in school history and placed him third nationally. He earned First-Team All-American honors from the Associated Press, AFCA, USA Today, CBS/247Sports, Phil Steele Magazine and Pro Football Focus. McMillian was also named Polynesian College Football Player of the Year and a finalist for the Fred Biletnikoff Award.
McMillian could be the guy who brings some big, explosive plays back to the Superdome, something we have not seen since Michael “Can’t Guard Mike” Thomas was drafted by the Saints in 2019.
