After four seasons in Pittsburgh, the veteran secondary coach is headed to New Orleans.
The New Orleans Saints have hired former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive backs coach Grady Brown, according to Matt Zenitz of 247sports. His title with the team is still to be determined. Brown had interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons’ vacant defensive coordinator position this offseason before they ultimately chose former New York Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich.

It became apparent that Brown would not be returning to the Steelers when they announced the hiring of Gerald Alexander as their new DB coach. During Brown’s four-year stint, Pittsburgh posted a 38-29-1 record while the defense tallied 66 interceptions, tying the Houston Texans and Minnesota Vikings for the third-most in the league over that span. Only the Buffalo Bills (70) and Dallas Cowboys (72) had more.
The Saints have also hired veteran defensive line coach Jay Rodgers and former safety Robert Blanton, a 5th-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. Their titles have yet to be announced.

Rodgers, most recently the defensive line coach for the Falcons in 2024, now reunites with Brandon Staley in the Big Easy after coaching under him in 2021 as outside linebackers coach and run game coordinator, and in 2022-2023 as defensive line coach and run game coordinator with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Blanton spent the past four seasons as the defensive pass game coordinator and safeties coach at Miami (Ohio) University.
