The New Orleans Saints gave interim head coach Darren Rizzi a chance after firing Dennis Allen. While that experiment didn’t exactly work out, some other teams could still be interest in the special teams ace.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport shared an update Saturday afternoon that Rizzi had completed an interview with the New York Jets for their head coach opening.
The Jets may be one of the few teams with more dysfunction than the Saints right now, but that could make Rizzi an interesting choice. New York is desperately in need of a culture boost and that’s exactly what he brings to the table as a coach.
The 54-year-old went 3-5 in his first eight games in charge of New Orleans, but that could actually be a selling point. It is clear that the team was bought in for him, they had just been dealing with too many injuries to do anything with the season.
