If given three guesses, you probably wouldn’t pick which New Orleans Saints players made Bill Belichick’s All-Belichick team.
If you guessed All-Pro J.T. Gray you’d have half the answer.
Alvin Kamara would likely be the first name to come to your mind. He was the star of the team this year. If you went to the defensive side of the ball, you may guess Demario Davis or Bryan Bresee. Davis received All-Pro votes and Bresee was the breakout player of the year for New Orleans.
Paulson Adebo is the other Saint to appear on Belichick’s list. Adebo claiming one of four outside cornerback spots despite missing more than half of the season was shocking.
Earning a spot on this team with limited play time speaks volumes on how Belichick viewed Adebo’s performance. You have to imagine Adebo’s ball production played a factor.
The cornerback played only seven games but recorded three interceptions and 10 pass breakups. That’s a lot of production for the amount of games he played. If he sustained that pace, he would have surpassed his career-high four interceptions and 18 pass breakups from the previous season.
Gray is a standout special teamer and made the All-Pro team, so his appearance wasn’t surprising. Surprising is an accurate description of Adebo’s inclusion.
