Former Packers kicker Mason Crosby could return to the NFL before this season comes to an end.
According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, the Saints are trying out a few kickers this Tuesday. Crosby is among those in attendance.
“Saints are trying out kickers today, per sources. Mason Crosby, James McCourt are among those in the group,” Underhill reported on X.
Underhill also mentioned that Taylor Bertolet is in New Orleans for a tryout. He made all three of his field goal attempts for the Chargers last season
Of course, Crosby is the marquee name trying out for the Saints. The veteran kicker spent 16 seasons in Green Bay, making 81.4 percent of his field goal attempts during that stretch.
Blake Grupe has been the starting kicker for the Saints this season. The rookie out of Notre Dame has made 24-of-30 field goal attempts in 11 games.
Perhaps the Saints will replace Grupe with Crosby for this Sunday’s showdown with the Lions.
