One report predicts Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, George Pickens will move on in a trade in 2025 and the Chiefs, Saints are the top two destinations. According to NFL Trade Rumors, the chances of the Steelers moving on from Pickens are high despite being a productive wideout for incoming quarterback Russell Wilson. However, Pickens continues to be a headache for the team after stirring up some drama in their surprising loss against the Cleveland Browns. He almost got in a fistfight with cornerback Greg Newsome after the game was over so this might not be worth the headache for the Steelers.
Originally selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, the wideout has been one of the most highly-productive playmakers in the league but drama and on-field antics haven’t been putting on a good image on his product. Pickens is eligible for a contract extension this offseason but no one should expect the Steelers to address it until near the end of his deal. This may stir some more frustration as Mike Tomlin said he’s in a management situation where they want to lower his snap count. The wideout is a reliable wide receiver for the team but the question they have to ask is themselves is it even worth having him on the team anymore?
It may be safe to trade him to a team where he could get exceptional reps since it doesn’t look like Pickens is part of the Steelers’ plans. It’s fair to say his behavior will only get worse this offseason since Pickens will probably look for a big pay day which the Steelers have been struggling to pay their talent in recent memory.

Helping Patrick Mahomes
The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t been the same this year as the past two seasons after winning back-to-back Super Bowls. Patrick Mahomes hasn’t been looking like himself despite bringing veteran DeAndre Hopkins in hopes of making up for the absence of Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice. They may be the first team to punch their ticket in the playoffs this season but they easily look like a roster that could be a first-round exit. Brown could come back for the postseason but there’s no guarantee of that happening.
Xavier Worthy was off to a ferocious start but has been struggling to stay consistent for the offense. Reserve players like JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman haven’t been able to hold the aerial attack together. Meanwhile, Travis Kelce is back to looking like a journeyman. Pickens could easily revitalize this entire passing game with his speed since he’s much younger than Hopkins.
A New Start
Meanwhile, the Saints have a lot to address this offseason regarding the future of their quarterback. Derek Carr was on the hot seat coming into this year despite the strong 2-0 start. However, since firing Dennis Allen, they could be on the verge of a rebuild even though Saints front staff are in denial of that happening. Chances are, Chris Olave probably won’t come back in 2025 after suffering a season-ending injury since frustrations were already growing.
The Saints could give Carr one more shot next season to prove what he could but that may be slim. Whatever happens with that, they need a new reliable No. 1 receiver for whoever will be their next signal-caller. Pickens might be worth the headache for the Saints to consider as it would be an immediate upgrade since signing Marquez Valdes-Scantling in an attempt to save their 2024 campaign. It would give Rashid Shaheed more separation and a chance for Bub Means to continue learning.
