Top Buccaneers draft asset running back Rachaad White could be available for a trade this offseason. According to Pro Football Focus, the source says there’s a possibility that Tampa Bay could trade the running back since they have an overwhelming room of other runners such as Bucky Irving. Originally selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Arizona State product is entering the final year of his rookie contract, so the team could seek a trade to get something in return if he hits free agency next offseason.
Third-stringer Sean Tucker has been getting more looks on the roster, and since that’s the case, it’s easier for the team to move on. Despite that, White had one of the best seasons in 2023, recording 1,539 total yards and nine scores over 336 touches. The running back could be a thing of the past as former offensive coordinator Liam Coen is no longer with the Buccaneers, and that easily could mean the team will be moving in a different direction. White won’t have the best market if he’s available after having one of the worst campaigns last year, but he could attract some contenders that need an answer at the backup position.
The running back won’t earn a starting role, but these five teams could roll the dice on him and give him a fresh start.

Possible Next Teams
Baltimore Ravens
This is easily the best landing destination for White to create a 1-2 punch with star running back Derrick Henry. Keaton Mitchell has been failing to live up to expectations as a capable backup, and White is no stranger to being the better runner in this situation. Justice Hill had some opportunities, but they can’t risk his small body to carry the ball often.
Los Angeles Chargers
In a surprise, the Los Angeles Chargers are not bringing back J.K. Dobbins on a new year deal, as he’s still available on the market. The team signed Najee Harris, and it’s clear what type of ground game head coach Jim Harbaugh wants to establish. Harris is the perfect answer as an old-school built runner that could get those easy yards to move the chains. However, after releasing Gus Edwards, they could use someone like White to solidify Harbaugh’s philosophy as another big body for them.
Dallas Cowboys
Despite signing Javonte Williams and veteran Miles Sanders, it’s safe to say these are just temporary solutions to their running game. There was hope that the Cowboys would draft Ashton Jeanty this year, but that seems unlikely after the latest signings. It’s more likely that Dallas will trade for a running back in this year’s draft, and it shouldn’t be surprising if it’s Rachaad White.
Washington Commanders
For the Commanders, there have been rumors that they could trade Brian Robinson Jr. as this unit is one of the weak points in their offense. Austin Ekeler may be returning, and it could be his final season with the team. Rachaad White will provide long-term relief if they decide to part ways with Robinson.
New Orleans Saints
Jamaal Williams had one of the worst performances last season, so the team cut him this offseason. No one is taking Alvin Kamara’s job, but the Saints do need a capable backup. Since Kamara is a speedster, White will likely be a perfect match for the Saints to have him on the depth chart to punch it in the red zone.
