PFF believes Saints legend linebacker Demario Davis could generate trade interest during the NFL Draft this offseason. According to Pro Football Focus, Davis may be the best trade asset for the New Orleans Saints since he’s under contract for what could be his last season this year. Earlier this offseason, the team reworked his deal along with safety Tyrann Mathieu and since the Saints will probably rebuild under head coach Kellen Moore, it makes sense why Davis may be a trade candidate. Davis has the most uncertainty realistically despite recording a PFF grade of 80.2 in run defense so he could attract suitors this offseason if there are other contenders out there looking for a capable edge rusher.
Originally selected in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft, the former Arkansas State product began his career as a third-string starter for the New York Jets before earning a starting role in his sophomore campaign. Davis became a journeyman for the next two seasons after spending a few more years in New York since becoming a high-profile free agent. The linebacker attracted interest across the league until the Saints gave him a chance and became one of the best pass rushers to have played the game.
Davis may be aging and he won’t put up many sacks, but he has a lot of defensive power that could be explosive to intrigue these five teams to trigger interest.

Next Possible Teams
Baltimore Ravens
Last season, the Baltimore Ravens defense wasn’t the same as the team was hoping for. Jadeveon Clowney was arguably their best edge rusher in 2023 but they didn’t have enough compensation to make up for it so he left for the Panthers. Trenton Simpson hasn’t been able to fill his shoes in his absence so Kyle Van Noy and Odafe Oweh need a capable veteran to run over the opposing offenses. Davis is the perfect man for the Ravens to push for that Super Bowl moment.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers will look dramatically different after releasing Joey Bosa. Despite the additions of Denzel Perryman and Troy Dye, these two aren’t getting the Chargers back in the postseason next season. While they have some upside, Davis has the experience to bring a championship home to the old-school philosophy Jim Harbaugh wants to build in Los Angeles.
Kansas City Chiefs
Meanwhile, the Chiefs were able to retain most of their defensive talent like Nick Bolton, Charles Omenihu and Mike Pennel. However, Drue Tranquill and Leo Chenal are two unproven edge rushers who need more veteran experience. They could use Davis in their situation in rotation to push for another Super Bowl appearance for the past four years.
Dallas Cowboys
While the Cowboys made alternating moves after the Demarcus Lawrence departure, the team could use a rotating veteran. Jack Sanborn is on a one-year deal which means he might be a temporary fix for depth. They have yet to extend Micah Parsons but they may trade for Davis even if the trade of Kenneth Murray Jr. doesn’t eventually work out.
Washington Commanders
The Commanders are in a better place than any other team in this league. However, the team should maximize Jayden Daniels’ contract and the only way is to continue signing as many veterans to build around him. Bobby Wagner is coming back but Demario Davis in that mix could be a solid foundation for the team’s defense for a nostalgic run to the Super Bowl.
