Teams were informed to expect the 2025 salary cap to settle between $277.5-281.5 million next season. That’s a huge jump and will benefit the Saints immensely in building their 2025 roster.

The New Orleans Saints have been dealt a strong hand again when it comes to clearing their cap space, as this NFL offseason will see a larger-than-anticipated salary cap jump once again. As reported by Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, the salary cap is going to settle between $277.5 million to $281.5 million.
This number is much higher than the projection by OverTheCap, which had it set at $272.5 million. So, this leaves the Saints with more cap space than they could have hoped for, as they sat at $54,182,537 over the limit according to those projections.
If the salary cap goes to the low end of the spectrum at $277.5 million, the Saints would be down to $49,182,537 over the limit instead, and if it went to the higher end, they would only be $45,182,537 over, which is light work for this front office.
This type of leniency gives them room to work with when it comes to restructures, planning for the future, and potential signings if new head coach Kellen Moore wants to make some pickups. Additionally, it makes the contract of Derek Carr even more intriguing, as if they were to get rid of him this offseason, it may be an easier pill to swallow given extra room to absorb the dead cap.
Overall, we will see how this affects their choices with free agency less than a month away now. But it most certainly cannot hurt their chances at clearing things up, and will definitely benefit them in multiple ways as they build around a new staff.
