Fewer than 24 hours ago, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was arrested in Louisiana for going 70 MPH in a 35 MPH zone.
Footage of the arrest found its way to TMZ and it doesn’t look great for the former Ohio State star. While Olave was calm the entire time, he did try to name drop his employer – likely in an attempt to get out of a ticket.
After being escorted out of the vehicle, Olave told police, “That’s on me. I was just trying to get home.” That’s when the Saints star learned he might be in some serious trouble for the driving infraction.
“My bad, dawg,” Olave said. “I play for the Saints, man.” The police officer clearly didn’t care and responded, “And?”
It didn’t take long for the video to hit social media and go viral. Fans had plenty of thoughts.
“Tried to use his fame to get out of trouble. I’m disgusted, he should be traded to the Lions immediately as punishment,” joked one Lions fan.
“that ‘and?’ stung more than the arrest itself,” joked another.
“Great response by the Cop. Just because you’re famous doesn’t mean you’re above the law,” offered a third.
New Orleans faces off against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. It’s unclear if Olave will be in the starting lineup.
