After years of kicking the financial can down the road, the New Orleans Saints seem to finally be entering a full rebuild. Heading into this offseason, the Saints have needs at nearly every position on the field. While they are sure to find some solutions in free agency, most of their attention should be focused on the 2025 NFL draft. Though the Saints are known for trading away draft capital, they hold four picks in the top three rounds this year. This New Orleans Saints three-round mock draft is focused on targeting existing areas of need on the roster and positioning the team for success moving forward.
New Orleans Saints Three-Round Mock Draft
Round 1, Pick 9: Mike Green, Marshall EDGE
At 6’4” and 248 lbs, Mike Green is smaller than the typical New Orleans Saints EDGE defender. In the current state of the Saints roster, they may choose to select the best player available with the ninth pick. If the board falls the way that many experts expect it to, Mike Green may be that player.
Mike Green is a highly productive pass rusher with the traits and effort to succeed in run defense. He tallied 17 sacks for Marshall this season, which was more than any other player in the country. Green uses his athleticism, bend, and technical skills to beat opposing offensive linemen consistently. While some teams may be concerned about his lack of high-level competition at Marshall, Green’s upside as an elite pass rusher is difficult to ignore.
Round 2, Pick 40: Donovan Jackson, Ohio State G
The New Orleans Saints are in the process of rebuilding their offensive line. With multiple spots up front in need of an upgrade, fans can expect the Saints to target an offensive lineman in the early rounds of April’s draft. Based on his versatility, Ohio State’s Donovan Jackson could be a perfect fit in New Orleans.
Jackson has played most of his collegiate career as a guard. However, when Ohio State offensive tackle Josh Simmons went down with an injury in 2024, Jackson was tasked with taking his spot. Jackson thrived at the position in the back half of the season, earning interest from NFL scouts. Donovan Jackson is powerful and explosive with surprising athleticism. He could fill in at either guard or tackle for the Saints, depending on team need.
Round 3, Pick 71: Savion Williams, TCU WR
In light of Chris Olave’s long-term health concerns, the Saints need an injection of offensive talent. Even with Olave on the field, this offense lacks a variety of pass catchers. In a deep class of receiver prospects, New Orleans can afford to wait until the third round to target this issue. Savion Williams, the dynamic wideout from TCU, should be an intriguing option for the Saints.
Savion Williams is one of the most versatile players in this year’s draft class. At TCU, Williams lined up all over the field. He earned snaps on the boundary, in the slot, and even in the backfield. Standing at 6’5” and weighing 225 lbs, Williams is one of the more unique prospects in recent memory. If the New Orleans Saints can figure out how to use Williams best, they will have a game-changing weapon for years to come.
Round 3, Pick 93: Jalen Milroe, Alabama QB
Since the end of the Drew Brees era, the Saints have struggled to find their next franchise quarterback. With their current roster and salary cap situation, New Orleans may not be able to take a swing at a quarterback early in this draft. However, they may benefit from placing a bet on a high-upside quarterback like Jalen Milroe in the middle rounds.
Jalen Milroe is as naturally gifted of a quarterback as there is in this year’s draft class. He has the speed and arm strength to make any NFL scouts salivate. Milroe’s raw athleticism makes him capable of taking over in clutch moments. However, his lack of accuracy and poor processing ability have caused him to fall on draft boards. Milroe may not be a surefire franchise quarterback, but he’s worth taking a chance on late in the third round.
