Will the New Orleans Saints hire Joe Brady as their next head coach? That’s unknown — NFL rules won’t allow him to even speak with Mickey Loomis over a teleconference until Wednesday or Thursday next week — but he’s in the mix just like other respected coaches around the league.
And the Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator is in high demand. The work he’s done to help Josh Allen step up is impressive. But the MVP candidate quarterback offered a deadpan response when asked just what Brady’s presence has meant this season.
“Nothing,” Allen grinned wryly, repeating, “Nothing. He hasn’t done anything for us. Teams should stay away from him.”
Allen spoke with NewYorkUpstate.com about last year’s midseason switch from Ken Dorsey to Brady on the headset. Turning serious, he pointed to a list of improvements as evidence that Brady has been key to their success.
“He’s been fantastic. You know, coming into that situation last year,” Allen reflected, “It’s not easy to switch play-callers midyear, and he came in and from that day on, if you look at our splits, our success that we’ve had as a team, it’s noticeable. He’s one of the most positive guys in the building. He’s always got juice and energy for the guys. I think that’s something that we love and appreciate about him. He’s as real as they come.”
