The edge from Michigan has been turning heads at the Senior Bowl.
Josaiah Stewart, an edge defender out of Michigan, is a prospect on the rise. With the Senior Bowl approaching, the New Orleans Saints should give the kid a good look.
Standing at 6’1’’ and weighing 245 lbs., Stewart has shown a surprising amount of versatility. This tweet from NFL analyst Ryan Fowler shows some of that off:
Michigan EDGE Josaiah Stewart is likely going to be a Day 1 guy for me.

Before transferring to Michigan, Stewart attended Coastal Carolina University for two years from 2021-2022. According to ESPN, as a Chanticleer, he gathered a total of 80 tackles, 16 sacks, and four forced fumbles. When he was a true freshman back in 2021, Stewart set a school record for most sacks in a single game, with four.
“It’s all mental; you just go in and do your job and play hard, and those plays are going to come,” Stewart said after that November matchup.
Following the ‘22 season, he would transfer to Michigan. There, he would gather 71 total tackles, 14 sacks, and two forced fumbles. When the Wolverines won the CFP National Championship in ‘23, Stewart and one other player led the team with six sacks in the regular season, per FOX Sports.
“There has to be a quality that boosts a guy up to be able to fit that position,” Jesse Minter, the defensive coordinator for Michigan, said. “#1, the tenacity he plays with, the pad level that he can play with, the power that he has…he is a very, very powerful rusher and a powerful edge setter because of his ability to play with leverage on people.”
ProFootballFocus gave Stewart’s 2024 season an overall grade of 91.2, which is the best of his career. He’ll hope to continue to impress this week at the Senior Bowl.
Oh, and look, it seems he’s already managed that in the first senior bowl practice:
