Evans, a finalist for the class of 2024 and a semifinalist for the class of 2023, is also the latest selection to the Saints Ring of Honor and is a member of the Saints Hall of Fame. Drafted by New Orleans in 2006, his resume includes six Pro Bowl selections, five All-Pro selections (four First-Team All-Pro), being named to the Saints 50th Anniversary Team and the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team, as well as a Super Bowl XLIV championship.
Glover played in New Orleans from 1997-2001. He was a four-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler. In 2000, he led the NFL with 17 sacks, the second most ever by a defensive tackle, and was named NFC Defensive Player of the Year. Glover is also a member of the 2000’s NFL All-Decade Team as well as a member of the Saints 50th Anniversary Team.
Sproles was signed by the Saints in 2011. During his 3 seasons in New Orleans, he played in 44 regular season games, charting 5,546 all-purpose yards, including setting the single season record in 2011 with 2,696 yards. He finished his NFL career as a three-time Pro Bowler, one second-team All-Pro selection, a member of the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team, and as a Super Bowl champion with the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII.
Glover, Evans and Sproles join 10 additional former Saints on this year’s nominee list, which include: quarterback Jake Delhomme (1997-2002), running back Ricky Williams (1999-2001), fullback John Kuhn (2016-2017), running back Terry Allen (2000), fullback Lorenzo Neal (1993-1996), wide receiver Joe Horn (2000-2006), tight end Jeremy Shockey (2008-2010), tight end Wesley Walls (1994-1995), defensive tackle Kevin Williams (2015) and defensive back Eric Allen (1995-1997).
The screening committee will reduce the list from 167 down to 50, with an announcement coming in October. Then, the full 50-person Hall of Fame Selection Committee will cut the list to 25 later this fall before it gets down to 15 finalists. The candidacy of those final 15 will be debated ahead of Super Bowl LVIX to decide the new class, which can consist of three to five modern-era Players under the Hall of Fame’s by-laws.
