The New Orleans Saints may have another coach leaving this offseason, as many others have done already. With Kellen Moore coming in as the new head coach, things have begun to change a bit when it comes to the staff, and he was given the reigns on who he wanted to be his assistants, position coaches, and coordinators seemingly.
However, one of those who was left in the middle of two regimes, offensive assistant Kevin Petry, may also be on the way out. This became more likely recently, as Petry has become a free agent coach, as was reported by Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football.
As Underhill mentioned, Petry worked with the Senior Bowl this offseason as the wide receivers coach of the American Team and was extremely highly regarded by both Sean Payton’s staff and the previous Saints coaching staff under Dennis Allen. Now, he will be a free agent for teams to interview and see if they want to hire him, which is likely to draw immense interest around the league.
Considering his previous connection to Sean Payton, the Denver Broncos may be a team that will be in conversations as the process starts for him. It will be intriguing to see where he ends up regardless. Unfortunately, the Saints may lose some insight into the 2025 NFL draft class when it comes to the wide receiver group if Petry were to leave for a new team.
