Schefter throws some cold water on Sanders at 9.
With the NFL Draft looming large this week we’re starting out Monday morning with a report from NFL Insider Adam Schefter. His information on the New Orleans Saints seems to dash some cold water on the thoughts of Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders at pick No. 9.
Schefter says there’s a belief around the league that the Saints are more interested in using a high pick on an offensive or defensive lineman. This makes our Caleb Yaccarino’s insight on New Orleans looking to trade up from Pick 40 with potentially an eye on a QB a little spicier.
Schefter reports that a personnel executive said: “I don’t think New Orleans is taking Shedeur. I think they’re hot and heavy on Jaxson Dart.” More on that here.
I thoroughly disagree on taking Dart at 9 but if they were to take him later in the first or even in the second, there’s worse things they could do. I would be curious to see how it works out with that many unproven QBs in the room (Rattler, Haener, Insert Late First/Early Second QB Here) assuming that Derek Carr is actually shelved all year.
If pick No. 9 goes to the defensive side of the ball, Moore, Jeff Ireland and Brandon Staley were all at Georgia last week visiting with Jalon Walker and Mykel Williams. I’d definitely feel better on Thursday night if their 9th pick goes to one of them rather than Dart.
