The former Saint has found a new home in Washington with Dan Quinn.
The New Orleans Saints have lost safety Will Harris to the Washington Commanders. On Tuesday morning, Mike Garafolo reported that Harris inked a two-year deal worth eight million dollars with the Washington Commanders.

After spending his first five seasons with the Detroit Lions, Harris signed a one-year deal with the Saints prior to the 2024 season. He played 13 games in New Orleans, totaling 74 tackles (second-most in his career), five pass breakups and one interception. As the main man in coverage, Harris allowed 62.8% of his targets to be caught for 280 yards and two scores.
Harris struggled early in his career with the Lions but had a resurgence with the Saints last season. He wasn’t an All-Pro level safety, but he brought energy and toughness to the Saints secondary.

With Harris out of the mix, the Saints have very few options at safety. Tyrann Mathieu has been rumored to be a cap casualty, but it doesn’t appear he’ll be going anywhere. They also have Jordan Howden, who is a promising young talent, but hasn’t shown he can be an every down player yet. They also have JT Gray, but he’s never played more than 41 defensive snaps in a season.
Kellen Moore and Brandon Staley are going to need to invest at safety in free agency and/or the NFL Draft. Justin Reid, Xavier Woods and Justin Simmons are some of the top names still available at the position.
