After winning back-to-back Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023 and 2024, Gay bet on himself by signing a one-year, $3 million deal with New Orleans, hoping for an increased role in Dennis Allen’s defense. Instead, the 27-year-old started just eight of the 15 games he appeared in for the black and gold, while his 277 total snaps marked his lowest since his 269 as a rookie in 2020. Gay finished his lone season rocking the fleur-de-lis with 17 tackles, 10 stops, four total pressures, two sacks, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble. It’s worth noting he underwent surgery for a significant hand injury suffered in Week 4’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons, forcing him to play with a large club on his hand for a stretch of the season.
Should the Saints look to the NFL Draft or free agency to bolster the linebacker unit, especially with veterans like C.J. Mosley of the New York Jets and Eric Kendricks of the Dallas Cowboys still available?
