How does this affect the Saints?
Throughout the coaching cycle, Liam Coen was one of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ top choices for head coach. Yesterday, after their second meeting, it was announced that the Coen would return to Tampa Bay and become the highest-paid coordinator in the league. Many people believed that Jacksonville would miss out on their top targets due to general manager Trent Baalke still being in charge. This was the main reason why Coen was headed back to Tampa Bay. After the news of Coen’s return broke, the Jaguars announced they would be moving on from GM Trent Baalke. This caused a shift, and now, per Dianna Russini, Liam Coen is set to become the Jacksonville Jaguars’ next head coach.
Liam Coen is expected to be named the next head coach of the Jaguars, pending final negotiations, per sources.

Coen becoming the Jaguars’ next head coach is extremely important for the New Orleans Saints. Starting with inside the division, this is a big loss for the Buccaneers. Not only did they just lose an offensive coordinator who created a dynamic play style and put Baker Mayfield in an amazing situation, but they now have to scramble for a new coordinator. Yesterday, the Buccaneers believed Coen was coming back, agreeing on a contract to make him the highest-paid coordinator in the league. Coen never officially signed that contract and ended up going to Jacksonville. This was a complete shock to many, and now the Buccaneers need to replace arguably the most vital coach on their staff.
The Saints now have only two other teams involved in this coaching cycle. The Dallas Cowboys are deep in negotiations with Brian Schottenheimer to become their next head coach and Pete Carroll has momentum to become the next head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Both of those positions are not done deals, so they can still shake up things for the Saints, but as of now, New Orleans is in a spot where they can take their time and make sure their next head coach is the correct hire.
