Godchaux, 30, has been in the NFL for eight seasons playing for both the Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots. The Plaquemines native and LSU product has racked up 425 tackles in his career to go along with 5.5 sacks and a pair of froced fumbles.
The Saints have been very meticulous this offseason in the moves they have made in terms of free agency and contract restructures, opening up north of $40 million in spending.
This news comes on the same day as Cam Jordan’s recent restructure saved the Black and Gold over $10 million by lowering his base salary.
