On Thursday night, it was reported that Jon Gruden is receiving interest from the New Orleans Saints for their job opening at offensive coordinator.
“The New Orleans Saints are reportedly interested in hiring Jon Gruden as OC,” NFL Rumors wrote on X.
Shortly after this report was made public, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football provided an update on the Saints’ interest in Gruden.
While it sounds like the Saints have some interest in Gruden, there’s no guarantee they’ll hire him.
“Wild mischaracterization of an analysis about how Gruden’s lawsuit could impact his ability to get a job,” Underhill said. “Doesn’t mean Saints don’t have interest, but that wasn’t the report they’re twisting here to say something completely different.”

The Saints have already requested interviews with Bengals quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher, Rams pass game coordinator/quarterbacks coach Zac Robinson and Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron.
Gruden could interview for the job due to his familiarity with Derek Carr. For now though, it seems like he’s an afterthought.
