A historic weekend for college football features intriguing draft talent
It’s a new era for the College Football Playoffs. More games mean more opportunities to scout the nation’s best players.
There are plenty of athletes playing in these games that could fill big needs for the New Orleans Saints next season. Here are four players you should watch.
- Jahdae Barron – Cornerback, Texas
NFL Draft Buzz Projection – 1st Round – Mid
Counting Travis Hunter, Barron is the third highest-ranked defensive back in this draft class. He’s a clear rookie starter, and if the Saints want a new starting cornerback, then Barron can do it. He has five interceptions this year and 42 tackles. His versatility to play outside cornerback, nickel, and safety is a huge advantage.

2. Tyler Warren – Tight End, Penn State
NFL Draft Buzz Projection – 2nd Round – Mid
New Orleans has flirted with drafting a tight end for years, and perhaps the unfortunate injury to Taysom Hill will increase the need for a dynamic prospect. Warren is one of the receiving best tight ends in this class but is also a physical blocker on the edge. He has 1062 yards and six touchdowns this season.
3. Denzel Burke – Cornerback, Ohio State
NFL Draft Buzz Projection – 2nd Round – Late
Lose one Ohio State cornerback and gain another? Not a bad idea. Burke came into 2024 as one of the nation’s best defensive backs but has had a rough season compared to those expectations. Regardless of a few bad outings, Burke still possesses stunning pass coverage flexibility for his 6’1 frame. The Saints could get excellent value with drafting Burke in the second or third round.
Barrett Carter is an INSANE athlete

4. Barrett Carter – Linebacker, Clemson
NFL Draft Buzz Projection – 3rd Round
Linebacker depth has been an obvious weakness this year after injuries to both Pete Warner and Demario Davis hurt defensive production. Carter has been the anchor of the Clemson defense this season and drafting him in the third round would be a steal.
