Five-year veteran pass rusher Chase Young signed a new contract with the New Orleans Saints. Young, a former first-round pick, spent the 2024 seasons with the New Orleans Saints but also played for the San Francisco 49ers and Washington Commanders.
Sources: The Saints are bringing back a key piece of their defense, agreeing to terms with Chase Young on a 3-year, $51M deal with a chance to reach $57M, a source says.
And back at the table at 28.

Chase Young, New Orleans Saints, Agree to Contract
The start of the 2024 campaign did not go as planned since the veteran spent some of training camp due to neck surgery. Despite that, Young would go on to have a decent season with the team even though the Saints went through their issues of missing the playoffs for another season at dead last of the NFC South, 5-12. After the team fired head coach Dennis Allen, it was apparent that the Saints would have likely moved on from Young as they’re possibly rebuilding a new regime under Super Bowl champion Kellen Moore
Still, he finished last year, recording 31 total tackles and 5.5 sacks. Chase Young originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Selected by the Washington Commanders, the Ohio State product spent the rookie season on a strong note winning the Defensive Rookie of the Year, recording 7.5 sacks leading all rookies as well as four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
Following a promising rookie season helping the Commanders on their first trip to the wild card in a while, the veteran was never the same again. Young spent the majority of the 2021 season on the injured reserve after tearing his ACL in his right knee in Week 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
For the next two seasons, he spent all of his time in 2022 and 2023 on the “physically unable to perform” list. He returned to the starting lineup but it was already too late, declining his fifth-year rookie option. Young was traded to the 49ers in hopes of reviving his career by helping them lead in the Super Bowl in 2023 before losing to the Chiefs
Since signing his rookie contract, Chase Young recorded 131 tackles, 22 sacks, seven forced fumbles and 12 pass deflections.
