New Orleans continues its trend of plucking from Kansas City in free agency by filling a major need.
The New Orleans Saints wasted no time finding a Will Harris replacement, inking former Kansas City Chiefs safety Justin Reid to a three-year, $31.5 million deal with $22.5 million guaranteed, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The 28-year-old follows in the footsteps of his teammate and fellow Louisiana native, veteran safety Tyrann Mathieu, as both went from being teammates on the Houston Texans to winning a Super Bowl in Kansas City (Reid twice, Mathieu once) before heading to the Big Easy to rep the black and gold.
Reid finished the 2024 campaign with 70 solo tackles (15 assists), 32 stops, 6 total pressures, 3 pass breakups, 2 interceptions, and 1 pass batted at the line of scrimmage.

This is a huge boost to the New Orleans secondary and fills a significant hole with Will Harris departing to the Washington Commanders on a two-year, $8 million deal. I’d even go as far as saying they’ve found a way to upgrade the position.
I’d still like to see the Saints add a cornerback, and someone to keep an eye on is former Los Angeles Chargers CB Asante Samuel Jr. He’s just 25 years old and already has experience in DC Brandon Staley’s 3-4 scheme. Asante could be a perfect fit next to Kool-Aid McKinstry and Alontae Taylor.
