Miami Dolphins cornerback, Jalen Ramsey, took to social media to celebrate the New Orleans Saints hiring Brandon Staley as their defensive coordinator.
Ramsey and Staley crossed paths with the Los Angeles Rams. The cornerback was traded to the Rams in 2019, and Staley became the defensive coordinator the following year
Though the player and coach only spent one season together, they left a lasting impact on each other. Staley highlighted Ramsey as being “one of the biggest reasons” he got his first head coaching job. Staley also added that Ramsey “means so much to me.”
After the season, Ramsey called Staley “the best defensive coordinator that I’ve had for sure in the NFL.”
That praise never tapered off either. Staley was a candidate to be the Dolphins defensive coordinator just last year, and Ramsey recalled working with Staley as, “a good experience.”
Ramsey secured his second first-team All-Pro during that 2020 season, so it makes sense why he’d vouch for Staley. Ramsey has made first-team All-Pro three times with three different coordinators, though. Only Staley received such high praise. That should speak volumes.
