Trey Murphy III and the New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to a four-year, $112 million contract extension. Murphy’s deal contains no incentives or player options.
Murphy was the 17th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft out of Virginia and has become one of the NBA’s best young wings. Murphy shot 38.0 percent on 7.81 three-point attempts per game last season. Murphy averaged 14.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 29.7 minutes for the Pelicans.
Murphy is expected to take a bigger role with the Pelicans, particularly given the uncertain future of Brandon Ingram.
