The New Orleans Pelicans have been in trade rumors surrounding Brandon Ingram all season and, more recently, Herb Jones. Nothing has advanced with an Ingram trade and the Pelicans have no interest in trading Jones.
New Orleans has also been receiving interest in Javonte Green. The sixth-year wing has become a rotation player for the Pelicans this season. As he’s on a $2 million veteran minimum contract, Green is eligible to be acquired by all but a small handful of teams.
New Orleans is dancing around the luxury tax line for this season. Given their poor record, the Pelicans will do what they need to avoid being a taxpayer. Trading Green would also open some flexibility under the tax to convert two-way player Brandon Boston Jr., who has done well in an unexpected rotation role this season.
