Zion Williamson is out indefinitely with a left hamstring strain and it could be an extended absence. Williamson has played in less than 50 percent of his possible games since he was drafted out of Duke by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2019.
“The Pelicans are bracing for him to be out about four to six weeks,” said Shams Charania on NBA Today. “His return will be based on rehab and how that treatment goes on that hamstring strain.”
In six games this season, Williamson is averaging 22.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists in 31.1 minutes. Williamson has a PER of 20.1.
The Pelicans have already a number of key injuries such as Trey Murphy, Dejounte Murray, Herb Jones and CJ McCollum.
