The New Orleans Pelicans could stop James Borrego from joining the Los Angeles Lakers coaching staff as an assistant should J.J. Redick get the head coaching job, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
Borrego is currently the associate head coach in New Orleans under Willie Green.
Borrego and Redick are the two front runners for the open role, with the Lakers reportedly close to finalizing a deal with Redick.
Stein adds that Anthony Davis may prefer Borrego to Redick.
