The New Orleans Pelicans and point guard Jose Alvarado have agree to a two-year, $9 million extension. Alvarado will also see his deal become guaranteed for this season at just under $2 million, before the extension kicks in for next season.
In his three years with the Pelicans, Alvarado has become an integral rotation player. Last season, the point guard averaged 7.1 points, 2.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 18.4 minutes per game off the New Orleans bench.
Alvarado has also steadily improved as an outside shooter. He hit a career-best 37.7% on three-pointers last season.
