Brandon Ingram has widely been expected to be available on the trade market this offseason, but David Griffin downplayed the possibility of the New Orleans Pelicans actually doing so as he’s set to enter the final season of his current contract.
Ingram would like to sign a max contract extension, but the Pelicans do not appear to willing to do so at this time.
“Brandon (Ingram) wants to stay here,” said Griffin during his post-draft availability. “He believes in what we’re building. That’s meaningful to us. It’s meaningful to him. I think it’s meaningful to his agent. At the same time, there’s a financial reality that we all deal with. We’re excited about Brandon. We know he’s excited about us.”
Ingram is represented by Jeff Schwartz and Jordan Gertler.
