Big days for G Miles Frazier and TE (goat) Mason Taylor
For my first time in Mobile for the Senior Bowl, I’m lucky to have a bunch of LSU players to keep an eye on.

Miles Frazier, Emery Jones, Mason Taylor, Saivion Jones, and Garrett Dellinger have been there for the entire Brian Kelly era so far, and we’ve all spent a lot of time with them. This is a big opportunity for all these guys and it was very cool to see them all play together pretty frequently. The headline is that Miles Frazier and Mason Taylor made themselves some money, especially Frazier, who has more to gain than Taylor (stock already high). Let’s get into some Day 1 notes.
Miles Frazier
LSU OG Miles Frazier (@milesfrazier15) was a standout on day one, working well in space on the American team’s outside zone concepts.

Frazier was the best of the bunch from LSU, and one of the most impressive overall linemen of Day 1. Frazier measured well, as expected, but looked nimble and comfortable as a run blocker, easily getting across the face of DL on outside zone, and moving people in downhill schemes. He had plenty of battles with Ole Miss DT Walter Nolen both in 1v1s and team period, losing one, but mostly having success against the possible first-rounder, as well as other blue-chips in this excellent DL class. A lot of people were talking about Frazier today.
Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor sick one-handed grab.
Taylor looks like the best TE in the American group. Blocking and now receiving.

Dog. Had great moments as a run-blocker, a receiver, and even in pass protection. LSU’s GOAT TE looks the part, showing the full toolkit of size, strength, speed, and developing route technique. The smoothness was obvious.
Emery Jones Jr.

Jones had an up and down day. At Tackle, he had some nice moments, but had issues getting beat around the corner with speed by faster rushers. In the run game he was better, showing off the athleticism on this backside cutoff on OZ, but the pass protection is only going to feed the concerns of those who think he projects as a guard. He worked some at guard as well and looked like a bit more of a fit there at the next level. The raw materials are there though.
Garrett Dellinger

Dellinger had a bit of a rough day, including the production of the wrong end of one of the OL/DL highlights of Day 1. Dellinger did have some nice moments in the run game and took some snaps at C, so he may be in for a better Day 2.
Saivion Jones

Saivion Jones measured in at 289 during weigh-in and looked it. He has gotten absolutely massive and with his length, can develop into an effective edge defender for 4-down teams in the developing world of condensed formations. He didn’t do a ton of note today but wasn’t bad at all, and I’m interested to see him and his massive frame continue to defend the run.
