For the fourth year in a row, the LSU women’s basketball team will be a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Women’s tournament and will play up to two games inside the PMAC.
LSU is the No. 3 seed in the Spokane 1 Regional. The top-four seeds in LSU’s regional are UCLA, NC State, and Baylor, so there’s a chance Kim Mulkey could be going up against her former squad in the Elite 8.
LSU will begin its run to Tampa this Saturday against the No. 14 seed Aztecs of San Diego State. Should LSU win, they’ll play the winner of Florida State-George Mason in the 6 vs. 11 game on Monday March 24.
The Sweet 16 will be March 28-29, and the Elite 8 will be March 30-31. The Final Four is Friday April 3, and the national championship game is Sunday April 6 at 2:00 P.M. CT.
The Tigers haven’t been playing their best basketball lately nor have they been very healthy. LSU has lost three of its last four games and went 1-1 in the SEC Tournament. The Tigers were knocked out in the semifinal round by Texas last Saturday, but it’s worth noting neither Flau’Jae Johnson nor Aneesah Morrow played in that game. Johnson was held out of the tournament due to inflammation in her right shin, and Morrow aggravated a mid-foot sprain in the Texas game.
Kim Mulkey expects both players to be ready for the NCAA Tournament. All games will be televised on the ESPN family of networks.
