Daniels, Allen, Womack all seem to be on their way out
Tuesday was a pretty tough day for LSU as three Tigers reportedly plan to put their names into the transfer portal when the window opens this upcoming Monday.
Wide receiver CJ Daniels, edge rusher Dashawn Womack, and safety Jordan Allen all plan to put their names into the portal, joining Rickie Collins and Landon Ibieta. As always, players can take their names out of the portal if they so choose.
Daniels is by far and away the most impactful of the three decisions as Brian Kelly said last week Daniels would be coming back. Hell, Daniels himself told The Advocate the same thing last Tuesday.
“Right now, I’m very firm on coming back. I think it would be best for me,” Daniels said. “Just improving my draft stock and just getting to where I want to be. I think it would definitely be a smart decision.”
Daniels has caught 42 passes for 480 yards this season.
Womack putting his name in will catch eyes as he was a former five-star prospect and has definitely shown flashes over two seasons, but hasn’t been able to find more than just a rotational role. He likely would have been a starter heading into spring as Bradyn Swinson and Saivion Jones are out of eligibility, but Womack’s been in the doghouse lately so this isn’t too terribly surprising. Womack hasn’t played since the Alabama game, and didn’t travel with the team to Florida.
Womack’s recorded 23 tackles, and 2.5 sacks in 20 games.
Allen hasn’t seen much of the field in three seasons as a Tiger, though this season he played a career-best 111 snaps. He has not played since week 7, however, as a turf toe injury has kept Allen sidelined. Allen was a three-star prospect coming out of Lafayette Christian Academy and in three seasons he had 22 tackles and a pair of tackles for loss.
