HEISMAN BOWL but also some really good Sunday performances!
Week 3 of the NFL season featured one of the most exciting NFL games ever for LSU football fans. We’ll get to it, but the 15 other games also featured a ton of LSU playmaking! Let’s break it all down.
Patriots 3 at Jets 24
Davon Godchaux had five tackles. Okay, now onto the really good stuff!
Giants 21 at Browns 15
So Malik Nabers… is good. He’s REALLY GOOD.

He had another TD later, giving him a final statline of 8 catches for 78 yards and 2 TDs. A pattern is forming among rookie wide receivers from LSU.

• 23 catches, 271 yards, 3 TD— Underdog NFL (@Underdog__NFL) September 23, 2024
If that wasn’t enough for you, both teams’ leading tacklers were Tigers. Grant Delpit had 10 for the Browns while Cor’Dale Flott had 9 for the Giants. Delpit also recovered a fumble. Ethan Pocic blocked.
The Giants host Dallas on Thursday night. This team isn’t good enough for a lot of prime time, but Malik alone is worth watching.
NFLSU Score: 9/10

Patrick Queen had a team-high 8 tackles with a pass breakup and Donte Jackson had 5. Kristian Fulton had 7 for the Chargers.

The surprisingly 3-0 Vikings also featured Ed Ingram blocking and Jay Ward making one tackle. Danielle Hunter had two tackles in the loss to his former team. Derek Stingley had one tackle and was not beaten on any of Sam Darnold’s 4 TD passes. Trust me, I watched them all to make sure.
NFLSU Score: 7/10
Broncos 26 at Buccaneers 7
Trey Palmer played but did not have a catch. This avoids a 0/10 by the smallest margin. In fact, I’m gonna give a game this score for the first time.
NFLSU Score: 0.5/10
Eagles 15 at Saints 12
Another week, another Tyrann Mathieu turnover.

Dating back to the final game of last season, Badger has forced a turnover in four consecutive games, the longest streak of his pro career. The dude will just always have it. Mathieu finished with 7 tackles. Foster Moreau caught one pass for two yards.
NFLSU Score: 6/10
Packers 30 at Titans 14
Arden Key had three tackles, and while he still doesn’t have a sack, this incredible TFL should make up for it.

Brian Thomas Jr. caught five passes for 48 yards. Maason Smith played but did not record a tackle. Reid Ferguson long snapped for more XPs then punts.
NFLSU Score: 4/10
Commanders 38 at Bengals 33
Imagine telling yourself ten years ago there would be a Monday Night Football game featuring two LSU Heisman winners. My mind would race thinking of the possible players and their LSU legacies. Hopefully they brought home a championship. Maybe they earned a retired number.
I never would’ve dreamed they would both be quarterbacks.
From the minute the schedule was announced, the LSU Heisman Bowl was circled on our calendars. Many of us expected a Bengals blowout and hoped Jayden Daniels would look respectable and maybe give us some fun highlights out of desperation. That was not the case.
Jayden Daniels put the league on notice with a dynamic performance through the air and on the ground. Remember last week when they didn’t score a TD? How about coming out the gate scoring TDs on their first four drives? How about this beautiful downfield shot to Terry McLaurin after two weeks of tucking the ball instead of taking deep shots?

How about tossing the first passing TD of his career to an OFFENSIVE LINEMAN???

And when the Bengals started clawing back, how about uncorking this insane dime while getting clobbered to ice the game?
Not just a running quarterback…
What. A. Throw.

Daniels’ final statline: 21/23 for 254 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, 40 rush yards on 11 carries and a TD. More total TDs than incompletions and an NFL rookie record for completion percentage in a game. Outside of kneeldowns, the Commanders have scored on every offensive possession TWO WEEKS IN A ROW!
In a week where plenty of discussion has percolated about quarterback play dipping league-wide, how awesome is it to see Jayden Daniels come out and light up one of the NFL’s best teams in front of the whole country? His LSU career will never get the legacy it deserves because of a terrible defense. If he could be this electric as a pro for one of the most cursed, moribund franchises in professional sports, everyone would pay attention. Jayden deserves this.
As for the other side, yes our beloved Bengals are 0-3, but our boys are innocent. Burrow was 29/38 for 324 yards with 3 TDs and 0 INTs. Ja’Marr Chase looked like Ja’Marr Chase again with six catches for 118 yards and 2 thrilling TDs. Here’s thrilling TD No. 1:

The offense is on track. The defense was the problem Monday night and at 0-3, it’s hard to see the Bengals rebounding into another playoff run this time. Changes may be coming in Cincinnati, and with two beloved former Tigers are the center, we will be watching closely.
But let’s not be downers tonight. What an incredible treat for LSU fans. Neither team punted, and every drive would’ve ended in a score had Evan McPherson (notable Florida Gator) not missed a 41-yard field goal on the Bengals’ second drive. This was a CLINIC!

While I wanted a thrilling finish, I cannot complain about offensive fireworks from both sides. This was an NFLSU All-Timer. The NFLSU All-Timer.
