We’ve never been more back
Week 2 of the NFL season brought some close calls, major upsets, and a lot of LSU Tigers showing out. Let’s go game-by-game and break it down.
Bills 31 at Dolphins 10
Duke Riley played some special teams but that doesn’t matter because IT WAS FERGUSON V FERGUSON BABY!
NFLSU Score: 3/10
Saints 44 at Cowboys 19
Against all odds, the Saints are the best football team in Louisiana. But don’t worry, they still have some classic LSU flavor. Here it is in the form of a Tyrann Mathieu pick!

Mathieu had three tackles and two PBUs. Foster Moreau caught another TD, but it was called back on a penalty. Damone Clark had seven tackles.
NFLSU Score: 6/10
Raiders 26 at Ravens 23
No Tigers. Moving on!
Browns 18 at Jaguars 13
The Jags offense is a mess, but it certainly isn’t Brian Thomas Jr’s fault! The rook caught two passes… for 94 yards! Here’s one of them:

The second was a desperation jump-ball at the very end. I feel like if the Jags built the whole offense out of BTJ bombs they might score more than 13. Grant Delpit had six tackles and Ethan Pocic played center.
NFLSU Score: 6/10
Arden Key has four tackles, somehow none of sacks! Jamal Adams had one. Lloyd Cushenberry played center. Ali Gaye played special teams and some defensive snaps. Jarrick Bernard-Converse had one tackle.
NFLSU Score: 5/10
49ers 17 at Vikings 23
Hey remember last week when Justin Jefferson caught a 3-yard TD? That was cool. This week he caught another TD from the 3-yard line… the other 3-yard line!

Jets finished with four catches for a casual 133 yards. He left late with an injury, but seemed to believe it’s minor. Ed Ingram blocked and Jay Ward had one tackle.
NFLSU Score: 8/10
Chargers 26 at Panthers 3
Kristian Fulton had one tackle and one pass breakup. Poor Damien Lewis played every Panthers offensive snap. At least next week he’ll have a QB who can see over the back of his head.
NFLSU Score: 3/10
Giants 18 at Commanders 21
This game was probably an unpleasant watch for 98 percent of football fans. However the 2 percent is LSU Football fans because this was great for us. Malik Nabers exploded onto the scene with 10 catches for 127 yards and his first career TD.
First of many touchdowns for Malik

Jayden Daniels did not score a TD, in fact no Commander did. What did he do instead? Lead seven field goal drives which was enough for his first professional win! Daniels was 23/29 for 226 yards passing while running for 44 yards on 10 carries. Is he taking too many hits? Yes, and we will work on that. But his speed and twitchiness is a legit problem for NFL defenders. He is still appointment television. When is he playing next week? We’ll get to that…
NFLSU Score: 9/10
Seahawks 23 at Patriots 20 (OT)
Davon Godchaux had one tackle. I’m assuming Anthony Bradford blocked, I’m too lazy to look it up. Let’s say he had a good game.
NFLSU Score: 2/10
Buccaneers 20 at Lions 16
Trey Palmer and Mekhi Wingo both played, but did not record statistics. This game cut it close…
NFLSU Score: 1/10
Colts 10 at Packers 16
This game did not cut it close. Zero!
NFLSU Score: 0/10
Rams 10 at Cardinals 41
Tre’Davious White had three tackles and one pass breakup. I did not watch this game, so I cannot confirm that Tre was responsible for surrendering all those yards to Marvin Harrison Jr. Let’s just say he didn’t.
NFLSU Score: 2/10
Steelers 13 at Broncos 6
Patrick Queen had four tackles and a pass breakup. Donte Jackson had three tackles.
NFLSU Score: 4/10
Bengals 25 at Chiefs 26
They were so close, man. While the Bengals did fall two 1-9 in Weeks 1-2 in the Joe Burrow Era (seriously, what the hell?) this is one of the best early season games he’s ever played. Joe went 23/36 for 258 yards and 2 TDs with no INTs. He did lose a fumble that was returned for a TD, but with how much he gets hit it’s gonna come lose sometimes. Also it was third down and Mahomes was probably gonna score anyway, he just saved time.
Ja’Marr Chase caught four passes for 35 yards, and was very upset about a potential hip drop tackle not being called that the ref penalized the Bengals 15 yards on a critical third down. I don’t care if I’m being a homer, you don’t give someone a 15-yard penalty unless hands are thrown. That was pathetic.
While it’s disheartening to see another 0-2 start, you have to feel good about where this team is at. They’ll get Tee Higgins back and Chase will get more acclimated following his training camp holdout. They will be real good next week, and we will all be watching because…
IT’S LSU HEISMAN WINNER VS LSU HEISMAN WINNER ON MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL ON ABC! JOE BURROW AND THE BENGALS HOST JAYDEN DANIELS AND THE COMMANDERS AT 7 PM CST! I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE HYPED TO WATCH A 1-1 TEAM PLAY AN 0-2 TEAM! WE ARE SO BLESSED TO WATCH THESE GUYS!
NFLSU Score: 6/10
Bears 13 at Texans 19
Danielle Hunter had five tackles, including 1.5 sacks. He and the Texans defense terrorized Caleb Williams. You know who else terrorized him? Derek Stingley, who snagged the first ever NFL interception off 2024’s first overall pick!

Even when they settle for four field goals, these Texans are fun to watch.
NFLSU Score: 6/10
Falcons 22 at Eagles 21
Devin White was inactive again. Starting to become a concern.
NFLSU Score: 0/10
