If you drafted all LSU players, congrats on your Fantasy Championship
Week 17 of the 2024 NFL season featured games on five different days of the week, two epic game-winning drives by LSU QBs, and approximately 5,000 receiving yards by the two LSU wide receivers taken in the 2024 Draft. In the four years I’ve been doing this recap, this is one of the most explosive weeks I can remember. Let’s go game by game and break down the action.
Chiefs 29 at Steelers 10
Patrick Queen was tied for a team-high seven tackles and almost had an interception, but it slipped through his hands. Donte Jackson had four tackles.
NFLSU Score: 4/10
Ravens 31 at Texans 2
Derek Stingley Jr. had four tackles while Danielle Hunter and Tre’Davious White each had two.
NFLSU Score: 3/10
Seahawks 6 at Bears 3
Look I know it’s all been gross so far, but I promise It’s about to get good.
NFLSU Score: 0/10
Chargers 40 at Patriots 7
Kayshon Boutte caught four passes for 28 yards. Davon Godhcaux had eight tackles while Kristian Fulton had five, a team-high. DJ Chark played, but did not catch a pass.
NFLSU Score: 4/10
Broncos 24 at Bengals 30 (OT)
I forgot to mention last week that Cade York hit a 59-yard field goal against the Browns, the team that drafted then cut him. That was cool and deserves to be shared, and it’s my fault for not including it.
Cade York with the RECORD-TYING field goal before half!! #CLEvsCIN on CBS pic.twitter.com/7efD7Y8255
— Cincinnati Bengals (@Bengals) December 22, 2024
I’m glad he had that moment because Saturday was not a good day for Cade York, who made one field goal but missed a game-winning chip shot in OT. It was also not a great first half for Ja’Marr Chase, who dropped an easy TD in the second quarter and had a very slow first half. However, he bounced back with a massive second half and finished with 102 yards on nine catches.
Chase’s drop and York’s miss were two of like 15 baffling Bengals mistakes that looked like the things that would end the team’s Playoff hopes. But they didn’t because Joe Burrow is their QB.

Burrow was an absurd 39/49 for 412 yards with 3 TDs, 0 INTs with 25 rushing yards and a TD. He is the first QB in NFL history with eight consecutive games throwing for 250 yards and three TDs. His 42 passing TDs are the 11th-most in NFL history, and he still has one game left. He led three different game-winning drives. The Bengals did not punt. Joe Burrow is the best player in the NFL this season.

Yes, it sucks that the team is still bad, they will almost certainly still miss the playoffs, and the Bengals’ cheap ownership could prevent Burrow from ever returning to the Super Bowl. But watching him and Ja’Marr Chase (and Tee Higgins who isn’t an LSU Tiger but the trio is so powerful I kinda love him like one) is an absolute delight. I hope the freak injuries are over because watching Joe and Ja’Marr for years to come should excite every fan of LSU and football in general.
NFLSU Score: 9/10
Cardinals 9 at Rams 13
Omar Speights continues to be a tackling machine with 10.
NFLSU Score: 3/10
Jets 14 at Bills 40
This Jets team feels lifeless, but we need them to beat the Dolphins at home next week to get our Bengals in the Playoffs. Yep, we have to root for Ayahuasca Boy. This is why I refuse to embrace the Bengals Bandwagon, these are the things they put their fans through. Anyway, Reid Ferguson long snapped.
NFLSU Score: 1/10
Titans 13 at Jaguars 20
Brian Thomas Jr. is too big for your DB.
Mac Jones BTJ

BTJ’s ridiculous rookie season continued with 91 yards on seven catches and that TD. He will finish top ten in the league in receiving yards despite QB instability and every other viable target for the Jags going down with injury. He is a bonafide star.
Arden Key had five tackles, while Maason Smith had two, including a sack, his second in two weeks. Also noted defensive back Jordan Jefferson broke up a pass.
NFLSU Score: 7/10
Panthers 14 at Buccaneers 48
Damien Lewis blocked, Trey Palmer fielded punts and Deion Jones made one tackle in his Bucs debut. He is a Saints stint away from completing the NFC South Cycle.
NFLSU Score: 2/10
Raiders 25 at Saints 10
This boring, disgusting, otherwise unremarkable game featured a startling amount of NFLSU action. Let’s start with the home team’s only TD, a beautiful rainbow to Foster Moreau against his former team.

The 30-yard score was the second-longest of Moreau’s career. He finished with 47 yards on three catches. Also suiting up for the first time as a Saint was Clyde Edwards-Helaire, everybody’s favorite guy.

— New Orleans Saints (@Saints) December 29, 2024
Clyde finished with 30 total yards on seven touches, perfectly fine for a first game on a bad team you’ve only been with for a week. Also returning to the building where he won a national championship was Terrace Marshall Jr., who caught this nice pass for 28 yards.

Not enough for you? How about K’Lavon Chaisson getting three tackles, one sack and forcing two holding penalties that probably should have been sacks? One more? Sure, Tyrann Mathieu had three tackles and a pass breakup.
NFLSU Score: 8/10
Cowboys 7 at Eagles 41
The biggest story involving Eagles RBs in this game: TYRION DAVIS-PRICE FINALLY GOT TOUCHES! HE RAN FOR SEVEN YARDS ON THREE CARRIES! WE ARE SO BACK!!!
NFLSU Score: 2/10
Colts 33 at Giants 45
It has been a long season for the Giants. The one bright spot has been rookie receiver Malik Nabers, who has shown flashes of brilliance despite putrid QB play. But in the last home game of the season, Nabers didn’t show flashes. He put on a laser show.

and two ridiculous TDs. He is a bonafide star. I’m not sure who his QB will be next year, but even if it’s a rookie, it’s almost guaranteed to be some kind of improvement. I will be tuning in for sure.
Also Cor’Dale Flott had three tackles.
NFLSU Score: 8/10
Dolphins 20 at Browns 3
Grant Delpit had a team-high nine tackles, while Ethan Pocic blocked.
NFLSU Score: 4/10
Packers 25 at Vikings 27
Justin Jefferson caught eight passes for 92 yards, and it says so much about how insane he is that neither of those seem remarkable, yet both were game-highs. This incredible game-icing catch didn’t count, but come one man, he’s insane.
Justin Jefferson, sir — you are incredible. It’s a shame that it was called back because of an offensive penalty. pic.twitter.com/4iJFglFW4D

Falcons 24 at Commanders 30 (OT)
Jayden Daniels has officially taken the Commanders from 4-13 to the Playoffs with a heroic primetime performance against the QB he beat out for last year’s Heisman Trophy. Jayden went 24/36 for 227 yards with 3 TDs and 1 INT. He also had the first 100-yard rushing game of his pro career, running for 127 on 16 carries.
HELLO, WILD CARD ROUND!!!!!!#WASvsDAL: TBD next week pic.twitter.com/8uPbCJC3fo
— Washington Commanders (@Commanders) December 30, 2024
The Washington NFL team has had a couple of playoff appearances here and there over the past three decades, but outside of one stretch featuring another Heisman-winning rookie QB, it’s hard to overstate how uninteresting this franchise has been. The closest thing they had to a franchise QB was Kirk Cousins. The stadium leaked sewage. Horrific off-the-field scandals plagued ownership. They truly felt like a franchise where nothing good would ever happened.
For Jayden Daniels to come in and not just win games, but turn this team into one I see football fans everywhere excited to watch is an extraordinary accomplishment. The stats are obviously good, but the box score doesn’t show Jayden had to survive inept O-line play, drops by his receivers, and a defensive collapse. Hey, this really is exactly like Joe’s game!
This performance in prime time basically locked up Offensive Rookie of the Year for Jayden. Between his sensational rookie year and Joe’s MVP-caliber season, LSU is actually, truthfully, unironically QBU.
Jayden Daniels has thrown 12 4th-quarter and overtime touchdowns this season — the most by a rookie in NFL history.

Lions 40 at 49ers 34
Jamal Adams and Kwon Alexander are both still on the practice squad, and Mekhi Wingo is still on IR. I will give the Lions credit for stocking up on Tigers as they gear up for a playoff run, but they don’t get points for this game.
