A new generation of stars joins the ranks for an exciting Week 1
Week 1 of the NFL season saw plenty of Tigers making plays across the league. Fun fact: the six teams with no LSU players on any of their rosters went 0-6. Good! It’s what they deserve.
Before we go game-by-game, remember that we are only considering the games’ value by the Tigers who played in the actual game. While BJ Ojulari is on IR for the Cardinals and Terrace Marshall Jr. is on the 49ers practice squad, they won’t factor in to the game’s entertainment value because they didn’t play. Now, let’s get into it.
Ravens 20 at Chiefs 27
While it was thrilling, it did nothing for us due to Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s absence. We still hope he’s doing well.
NFLSU Score: 0/10
Packers 29 at Eagles 34 (in Brazil)
We are unfortunately 0-2 as Devin White stayed in Philly with an ankle injury. Another great football game, another goose egg by our metric.
NFLSU Score: 0/10
Vikings 28 at Giants 6
Now here’s some action. Two of the most electrifying receivers in LSU history going head to head. We’ll start with Malik Nabers, since it was his much-anticipated pro debut. Leek caught five passes for 66 yards, which is wildly impressive considering how terrible his quarterback is. Here’s his first career catch, if you can tolerate the putrid Giants throwback uniforms.

As for Jefferson, it was a ho hum day. Four catches for 59 yards and a TD. Like I said in the season preview, Sam Darnold isn’t that bad!

As for the others, Cor’Dale Flott had three tackles. Ed Ingram played guard and Vikings fans probably said he was terrible, but the Giants have a freakish D-line, so cut him some slack. Jay Ward played some special teams snaps.
NFLSU Score: 8/10
Panthers 10 at Saints 47
Want more elite NFLSU receivers catching TDs? Here’s the name you all expected… Foster Moreau!

Moreau caught four passes for 43 yards, both career highs as a Saint. You would think catching a touchdown would make you the most notable NFLSU player of this game, but the Saints beatdown also gave us another vintage moment: the Honey Badger taking what he wants.

Forcing AND recovering a fumble? It’s 2011 all over again. What a beautiful sight. Mathieu had four tackles to go along with the turnover.
As for the desolate Panthers, I stand by my statement last week that I’m happy Terrace Marshall and K’Lavon Chaisson aren’t around for this. Damien Lewis is the only one we have suffering. He played every snap at guard and was Carolina’s highest-rated linemen according to PFF. He is innocent.
NFLSU Score: 8/10
Cardinals 28 at Bills 34
Reid Ferguson is our only action here. Catch the Ferguson Bowl on Prime Video tonight!

Patriots 16 at Bengals 10
September continues to confound the Cincinnati Bengals. I am sorry for putting my faith in their front office last week, that’s my mistake. Ja’Marr Chase still does not have a contract extension and his training camp absence probably factored into this lousy performance. Joe Burrow was 21/29 for 164 yards with no TDs or INTs. Not terrible… but yucky. Chase caught six passes for 62 yards which were both a game-high, but it’s not supposed to look like this. Go to our own Max Toscano’s Twitter for more on our confusing Bengals.
On the Patriots side Davon Godchaux had one tackle. Kayshon Boutte was apparently active but didn’t play any snaps? Sure.
NFLSU Score: 5/10
Titans 17 at Bears 24
Lloyd Cushenberry III played every snap at center and Arden Key played, but did not record a tackle.
NFLSU Score: 3/10
Steelers 18 at Falcons 10
Patrick Queen and Donte Jackson each had two tackles. The latter also had two breakups and most Importantly, the game-sealing pick!

The current LSU DBs are not exactly helping our DBU claim, so we really need the alumni to step it up!

Jaguars 17 at Dolphins 20
Hey it’s been a minute since we saw a Tiger catch a touchdown, let’s watch the first of Brian Thomas Jr’ career!

BTJ finished with four catches for 47 yards. Duke Riley played but did not record a tackle. Blake Ferguson long snapped.
NFLSU Score: 7/10
Texans 29 at Colts 27
Derek Stingley Jr had four tackles. He did surrender one deep touchdown, but it really isn’t fair that Anthony Richardson can throw that far. Danielle Hunter had one tackle.
NFLSU Score: 4/10
Commaners 20 at Buccaneers 37
We expected a rough first season with Jayden Daniels given the state of his team. While the Commanders were not exactly competitive in his pro debut, it was still a solid showing!

17/24 for 184 yards is respectable, but Daniels ran 16 times for 88 yards (more than any Commanders or Bucs RB) and two TDs. That rushing ability is what made him astonishing in purple and gold, and the fact a pretty good NFL couldn’t keep a lid on it is a great sign. He could use some better receivers, but he’ll get there. Check out every play he had Week 1 to get the full picture.
Trey Palmer caught one pass for 19 yards and recovered an onside kick.
NFLSU Score: 8/10
Raiders 10 at Chargers 22
DJ Chark will unfortunately miss at least the first four games with a hip injury. Kristian Fulton played and had five tackles in his Chargers debut.
NFLSU Score: 2/10
Broncos 20 at Seahawks 26
Our only action is Anthony Bradford playing guard. Did he have a good game? Maybe. Did he have a holding penalty in the end zone leading to a safety? What are you, a cop? His team won, leave him alone!
NFLSU Score: 1/10
Cowboys 33 at Browns 17
Damone Clark and Grant Delpit each had four tackles. Ethan Pocic played center for a Browns offense that was very bad because of one very bad player.
NFLSU Score: 5/10
Rams 20 at Lions 26 (OT)
Tre’Davious White had five tackles in his Rams debut. He had one very rough play, but it’s not his fault he was one-on-one with Jameson Williams. He should not have been in that position! Mekhi Wingo made his NFL debut and while he didn’t record a tackle, he had a QB hit, which is cool because he is cool.
NFLSU Score: 2/10
Jets 19 at 49ers 32
Jarrick Bernard-Converse was inactive and Terrace Marshall Jr. remains on the 49ers practice squad, so nothing here. At least it was a Scorigami!
