Tigers send three more to the league Friday night
The wife and I were out and about Friday evening so I’m consolidating the three former Tigers who heard their names called on night two of the 2025 NFL Draft into one piece.
Mason Taylor (2nd round, 41st overall), Emery Jones (3rd round, 91st overall), and Sai’vion Jones (3rd round, 101st overall) were all drafted into the NFL on Friday night. Taylor is off to New York to join the Jets, Emery Jones was picked by the Baltimore Ravens, and Sai’vion Jones is a Denver Bronco.
Taylor has a case to be the greatest tight end in program history. Statistically speaking he’s the best LSU’s ever had as he leaves LSU as the all-time leader in catches (106) and yards (1,308).
Folks round here know Taylor’s great, but how ‘bout this incredible bit of praise for Taylor from none other than Nick Saban?!
Nick Saban on New York Jets draft pick and LSU tight end Mason Taylor: “This is the biggest recruiting mistake we ever made. This guy is the best tight end we had in camp. Here he beats us, knocks us out of the playoffs right here.”https://t.co/Qk09qVSN3V pic.twitter.com/Gr60CIdxs5

Brian Kelly’s calling card has been putting offensive linemen and tight ends into the NFL. Emery Jones gives Kelly and Brad Davis a second Tiger drafted, joining Will Campbell who was taken fourth overall by New England.
Jones was a two-time Second-Team All-SEC selection and also earned Freshman All-American honors. Jones ended up playing in 38 games and started 36 times at right tackle. Whether or not he’ll play tackle at the next level remains to be seen, but we’ve heard since he signed with LSU that right guard is his most natural position.
LSU’s other Jones, Sai’Vion, just barely snuck into night two as Denver traded up to take him with the second to last pick of round three. Jones saved his best in Baton Rouge for last, posting career-highs in tackles (40), TFLs (7.5), and tied his career-best with 4.5 sacks. Jones ended up appearing in 51 games for LSU with 29 starts; Jones also ended his career with 27 consecutive starts dating all the way back to the Citrus Bowl against Purdue.
The third and final day of the 2025 NFL Draft begins at 11 A.M. tomorrow. We’re expecting to see Bradyn Swinson and Miles Frazier get drafted and we’ll keep an eye out for Zy Alexander and Garrett Dellinger.
