3 Specific Predictions: Saul Garcia
This is it, y’all. It’s been nine months since we last saw the Fightin’ Tigers of LSU, four years since LSU got off to a 1-0 start, and 21 years since LSU and USC split the national championship. Winner gets the undisputed claim of 2003 national champions, what do y’all think?
I can’t really make heads or tails of this game. LSU and USC are practically mirror images on both sides of the ball: both are replacing Heisman winning quarterbacks, both had awful defenses, and both are led by two of the most well known head coaches in the game currently.
I don’t expect nor think that LSU’s defense is going to be the spitting of the 2011 group, but they’re certainly going to be better. The only question is how much. And while I’m sure Garrett Nussmeier is going to be awesome, he’s going to have to show it.
But here’s what I do know: the best unit on either side is the LSU offensive line and I think Campbell, Dellinger, Turner, Frazier, and Jones are going to be able to lean on USC all game long, much like how Georgia Tech did to Florida State in Ireland. I think early three or four yard body shots by Josh Williams and Kaleb Jackson will turn into six or seven yard knockout punches.
Final Prediction: LSU 35, USC 28
