Man.
I’m sorry to report that the men’s college basketball season is on the horizon and if the preseason polls are correct, it will be another long winter for LSU.
Matt McMahon’s Tigers were projected to finish 14th in the SEC this season, ahead of only Oklahoma and Vanderbilt. Needless to say that would be tremendously disappointing for McMahon heading into year three, especially after LSU finished in the top-half of the conference last season.
There is reason to be optimistic heading into the 2024-25 season and beyond, however. LSU signed a top-15 recruiting class this past cycle and brought in three senior guards via the transfer portal. Matt McMahon is also building another strong class as the 2025 group is currently ranked 2nd according to 247 and 9th per On3.
LSU’s season unofficially begins on Tuesday as the Tigers will host Loyola in an exhibition. The will officially begin on November 6 against ULM.
Alabama was predicted to win the league and the Tide’s Mark Sears is the SEC’s preseason player of the year. Auburn, Tennessee, and Arkansas—now led by John Calipari—round out the predicted top-four.
