Last AP poll before the CFP rankings come out
Thanks to a little bit of carnage across the college football landscape, LSU (6-2, 3-1) moved up two spots to land at No. 14 in the latest AP Poll.
Texas A&M, Iowa State, and Clemson all lost on Saturday opening the door for LSU to move up a couple of spots. A&M, despite beating LSU, is one spot behind the Tigers at #15, while Iowa State’s first loss of the season dropped them to #17; Clemson fell to #19 after a pretty ugly loss at home against Louisville.
Oregon is the unanimous No. 1 team in the AP Poll, while Georgia is once again sitting at No. 2. Ohio State, Miami, and Texas round out the top five, while Penn State dropped to sixth after losing to the Buckeyes.
The first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2024 season comes out on Tuesday, which will of course be the biggest, most newsworthy event happening on Tuesday. I’d imagine LSU’s first CFP ranking will line up with the AP ranking and be in that “first four out” group. Everything is still in front of LSU so all they have do is take care of business. It starts by beating Alabama on Saturday.
