It’s really happening
LSU will be rolling out an entirely new look for Saturday night’s game against Vanderbilt (6:45 P.M., SEC Network) and it’s a look they’ve only used twice since 1998.
LSU’s social media accounts announced Monday evening that the Tigers will be wearing a gold jersey against Vanderbilt.

It’s not yet known what helmets and pants will go with the jersey, though I’m hoping it’ll be the white helmet and white pants. Personally I think an all-yellow (gold?) look would be pretty rancid.
LSU wore a gold jersey against Mississippi State in the 2016 season in what they called the “gridiron gold.” I liked that look and, again, if these alternates match what those looked like I’ll be fine.
Before that, the last time LSU wore a gold jersey was against Florida in 1998. They wore them with yellow helmets and LSU went 4-7 that season and 2-6 in SEC play.
LSU is, of course, in the middle of a three-game losing streak and the vibes around the program are pretty bad right now. Who knows, maybe the new look will break up whatever funk is hanging over the team.
