Needed three, got three
Coming into this weekend LSU’s goal against Ole Miss could be summarized in one word: sweep. And for the first time all season, the Tigers were able to sweep a conference weekend as LSU (36-20, 13-17) beat Ole Miss 9-3.
In what was surely Tommy White’s final game in Alex Box, he went deep twice and picked up a season-high five RBI. Four of those five came off a fourth inning grand slam that doubled LSU’s 4-0 lead to 8-0.

White then hit one final Tank to left field to lead off the sixth inning.

White’s gone deep 23 times this season and for his career he’s hit 74. That’s tied for the ninth most in NCAA history and also tied for the most in the 21st century.
Hayden Travinski also had a solid final game at Alex Box as the senior went 3-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Travinski’s bat heating up was critical to LSU’s run to the national championship last season; could history be repeating itself as postseason play is on the horizon?
LSU is by no means out of the woods yet, but getting to 13 conference wins before the SEC Tournament begins is massive. As Adam mapped out a few weeks ago, LSU needs to score SEC wins before Memorial Day. They’ve picked up six, and they’ll have a chance to get to seven in Hoover.
LSU is locked into the No. 11 spot for the SEC Tournament and as such will play in the Tournament opener on Tuesday. The bracket isn’t finalized yet, but it looks like LSU will either play Mississippi State or Georgia in the 6 vs. 11 game. That game is scheduled to begin at 9:30 A.M. (disgusting!) on Tuesday. Every game of the SEC Tournament can be seen on SEC Network.
