LSU ranked the No. 6 offense (sure!) and No. 18 defense (HUH?????)
The developers of EA’s highly anticipated College Football ‘25 game have spent this week teasing features like sights and sounds, toughest environments to play, and team’s offensive and defensive ratings.
To close out the end of Rankings Week, EA put out the overall team rankings and the developers have LSU ranked as the 8th best team. LSU’s got an overall rating of 90 in the game. That’s tied with Clemson and Notre Dame.
LSU will have the 6th-best offense in the game with an 89. To me that’s a more than fair ranking, especially considering what LSU’s losing from last year’s team. You don’t just simply “replace” a Heisman winning quarterback in Jayden Daniels and a pair of first round pick receivers in Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr., but the Tigers will bring back the majority of the offensive coaching staff and arguably the best offensive line in college football. If you’ve been reading Max’s stuff, you’ll see that it looks like Garrett Nussmeier and Kyren Lacy in particular are ready for the moment.
Where the game developers lose me is their defensive team rankings. EA has LSU’s defense ranked 18th. Not 118th mind you, but 18th. Like top-20 good. Umm…let’s just say I disagree and move on. The less we say about LSU’s defense the better.
Georiga, Ohio State, Oregon, Alabama, and Texas are the top-five teams in the game. Clemson, Notre Dame, LSU, Penn State, and Utah round out the top-10.

The rest of the top-25 is as follows:

It’s worth pointing out that these ratings mean absolutely nothing. They’re worth less than the preseason AP Poll, and they certainly don’t mean anything compared to the weekly CFP Polls. That said I have some thoughts.
- Georgia-Ohio State-Oregon makes sense as a top-3, but Bama at 4 is ridiculous
- Far be it from me to pay Ole Miss a compliment, but there ain’t 14 teams better than the Rebs
- Y’all gotta stop with this Colorado thing
- I must have missed the part where Missouri shut down their football program because I don’t see how they’re not in this top-25
- USC is ranked 19th overall and all that does is remind me that September 1 can’t get here quick enough
