Just win
The first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2024 season were released Tuesday night and LSU checked in at No. 15. LSU is sandwiched between Texas A&M at 14 and Ole Miss at 16 so not a lot of complaints there.
The Top 25 is as follows, playoff teams are in bold, and the first round byes are italicized.
- Oregon
- Ohio State
- Georgia
- Miami
- Texas
- Penn State
- Tennessee
- Indiana
- BYU
- Notre Dame
- Alabama
- Boise State
- SMU
- Texas A&M
- LSU
- Ole Miss
- Iowa State
- Pitt
- Kansas State
- Colorado
- Washington State
- Louisville
- Clemson
- Missouri
- Army
This of course is the first year of the expanded playoff field and if the playoffs started today, Oregon, Georgia, Miami, and BYU would get the four first round byes as champs of the B1G, SEC, ACC, and Big 12.
This is how the bracket looks as of this week’s rankings. Round one games would be #12 Boise State vs. #5 Ohio State, #9 Indiana vs. #8 Tennessee, #11 Alabama vs. #6 Texas, and #10 Notre Dame vs. #7 Penn State. Under this format, SMU and Texas A&M would be the first two teams out of the playoff.
