You’ll never guess who got the top spot
This is the indicator of the upcoming season: the day the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Preseason Coaches Poll drops.
The defending national champion LSU Tigers will enter the 2025 season ranked #2 in the country behind eternal favorite Oklahoma. This marks LSU’s 13th consecutive season ranked in the preseason top 10. Oklahoma received 42 of the 55 possible first-place votes. LSU received six, #3 Florida received five, #4 Cal received one and #5 Utah received one.
Rounding out the top 10 are #6 Alabama, #7 Kentucky, #8 Arkansas, #9 Missouri and #10 UCLA. Georgia is ranked #14 and Auburn is ranked #17. LSU’s season opening opponent, Iowa State, is ranked #32. Tickets for that meet, alongside all other home meets, went on sale today.
Based on the results of the 36-team poll, the coaches project that 2024 regionals qualifiers Ball State and San Jose State will miss regionals and be replaced by #29 Iowa and #36 North Carolina. The full results are listed below.
