Thanks to an overtime upset win over Ole Miss, LSU (5-1, 2-0) has vaulted into the AP Top 10 for the first time this season and land at #8 in this week’s poll.
Texas, who I fear has the juice this year, holds on to the No. 1 ranking after the Longhorns vaporized the Sooners at Red River, 34-3. Oregon moved up to #2 after beating Ohio State, Penn State also moved up one spot from #4 to #3, while the Buckeyes weren’t penalized too harshly for losing by one point on the road against the Ducks. Ohio State only dropped from No. 2 to No. 4, and Georgia rounds out the top-five at #5.
LSU was the biggest climber in this week’s poll moving up five spots, and conversely Ole Miss was the biggest loser and fell nine spots from #9 to #18. The biggest non-SEC story in this week’s poll? Folks Army and Navy are both ranked! It’s the first time the two have both been ranked since 1960! The Knights are 23rd while the Midshipmen are 25th.
